Weekend Update
Alas, here were are, once again on a Monday morning...
The weekend was pretty good. I had a really great visit with the fam, and boy did I go over two major rivers and through the woods! I got up early, as in 6:15 early, on Saturday and drove the four hours and then got back home around 6 last night.
Wow, this is a lame post.
Ok, question...
How soon is too soon for someone to use the "L" word? No, not lesbian...the song Ashley Simpson sang about...L-O-V-E.
Cause I'm totally not good with relationships, blah blah, but I don't think you just whip it out or toss it around like a small animal you want to get rid of.
ME: "Hi sweetie, how was your flight?"
HIM: "My connecting flight got pushed back, so I won't get home till later."
ME: "Oh that sux, what time?"
HIM: "12:30"
ME: "Ok, well give me a call when you get home, so I'll know you made it there safe and sound."
HIM: "Will do, later baby."
ME: "Bye"
Less than a minute later, I get a text. He writes "One more thing...I love you!"
****************What?*****************
Uh...how does one appropriately respond to that?
We've known each other a month, and only spent last weekend together. We seem to enjoy each other's company, I look forward to our next date, but yikes...the L word...so soon?
I replied with...awe you're sweet...I love you too. Oops. I didn't know what to say, and if I didn't respond, well I just didn't know what to say.
Yikes.

Don't worry -- if he's like every other gay man, he'll change his mind about his feelings in about a week.
Wow.
Having absolutely no experience with decent men, I can't help you there.
The best advice I can offer is follow your heart. If you feel something for him, see where that goes and allow things to progress. Whatever you do, don't let yourself feel obligated to say "I love you" if it isn't what you are feeling -- that will cause you both TONS more heartache in the long run.
However it all turns out, know that I'm rooting for you to find what you're looking for.

I'm sorry, I had to. We'll all look back on this and laugh one day. In a good way, I'm sure.

Dirk: I really appreciate your sincerity. I too hope for the best, but you never know. Hang in there, I know there's someone out there for you too.
The Persian: Hmm...maybe between the vicodin and percocet (SP on both)...you missed out....nah...just kidding...btw...glad you had an enjoyable weekend...i wish you were my daddy ;-)
galpal: I love you too, just remember love in that "i'm not buying what you're selling" kinda way.
To All: Update...we talked tonight...just one time...since apparently I have issues with talking to someone more than twice a day...and we straightened things out with the "I love you" comment. He calls it a young love, not a we've been dating for two years and live together with a dog and a china baby love. Makes more sense and I'm relieved.
OK, well you don't have to worry, "W" ... I get it.
