Dancing Queen

Hey all...

I have a confession to make. Lean in...more...more...ok there.

"I love to dance, but I'm really really white, and my rhythm is touch and go."

Last Saturday night, I went out with no name guy from a few hours away, and he drug me out on the dance floor. The reason I say drug, is because it was early, no one was out dancing yet, save for a few lesbians and two guys dancing apart because their high kicks and arm thrusts needed plenty of clearance. No need for them to 'dance wide'....10 points for anyone who can name that Will and Grace episode.

Anyhoo, no name guy is a really good dancer, so I had to really concentrate and keep up with his moves.

Well last night, I went to a ballroom dancing class, the first in a five week series. Before, I thought, how much can you learn in five hour-long sessions. When you're dealing with two left feet Lou here, you can't learn very much.

We started off with the mambo...one of my favorite songs from West Side Story! Eh, we learned a few basic moves. I kept counting and not 'feeling' the music, so that was problem numero uno. Then I was trying to take big steps, when you really don't have to. Luckily I did NOT step on my partner's toes. She was only slightly more adept at learning the moves. Just when I thought I might be getting the hang of it...wham...we start learning a swing dance...and all hope went out the window.

Now I'm going to have to practice a lot...by myself...which is weird.

Oh, I did realize that one of the dances from Dirty Dancing is the mambo...so I'll just pretend I'm Jennifer Grey and let a big strong Patrick Swayze lead me across the dance floor, cause nobody puts baby in a corner. Which by the way, Patrick thought was sooo corny, he didn't want to say the line.

Dirk, if you're reading, and I know you are...help me come up with an alias for no name guy. And no I still don't like Greg, Gunther, or G-dawg.
