What a Drag!

First off, the weekend was anything but a drag. Details on that later my friends. Patience people, patience.

When walking (skipping) down the fabulous, winding road we call life, most (not all) gay men utilize a checklist to include them in the homo card carrying crowd.

1.) Enjoys the company of other men (usually involving a hot, sweaty, and clothing optional encounter)
2.) Enjoys the company of a nice accessory to compliment the perfect outfit (IE, a shoulder bag, a fun belt, or sometimes a little dash of under eye concealer)
3.) Enjoys the company of one or multiple divas (Cher, Madonna, Celine, Barbara, Tina, Elton, etc....notice how musical divas need only one name)
4.) Enjoys the company of others who use words and phrases like, "Fabulous or It's Just Glitter Girl."
5.) Enjoys the company of men dressed up like women who call people bitches and lip syncs to any of the aforementioned divas.

Ok, so yeah, that's really bad stereotyping. I'm only at maybe 3 or 4 checked on that list. Honestly, I just don't get drag at all. Men who like men, dressing up like women with WAY too much makeup on...I dunno...it's just foreign territory.

So I went to a drag show at a local bar on Saturday night. It wasn't a drag. It doesn't deserve to be called drag. Amateur hour is more like it. However, the drag was SOO bad, it was funny...and I really didn't have that bad a time.

Why did I go?

I'm so glad you asked.

Last week, I did a lil weekend update and mentioned canceling a trip to a nearby major city, because I had a date setup with a nice guy I'd been chatting and talking with for about a month. Due to me being tired and inclimate weather, we postponed for until this past weekend. I wasn't expecting him to call, but he did on Friday. He came down Saturday morning and we had lunch, walked around downtown, and had a nice time. So nice of a time, we ended up having dinner Saturday evening and he talked me into going to the local alternative lifestyle bar because some of his friends would be there too, who just happened to be in town visiting.

Now, some of you bright, attentive readers will recall my 'blog crush' post from last week. The crush is still there. The crush is also 20 hours away. We both said last week we have to be realistic about the distance thing. Guy from the weekend (who still doesn't have an alias yet...gotta put that on the 'to do' list)...he lives about 2 hours away. Either way, there's an issue of distance, but being realistic may lead to some hurt feelings...and that's the last thing I want to do.

So while the weekend wasn't a total drag, in fact it was quite nice, it leaves me with some thinkin' to do.

Peace, love, recycle, and have a great week.

Ahhh, much better ...

(heh, you said TOP) ...

I would say that you should nip it in the bud if that's how you are leaning though, before things get too far along. It'll hurt a lot more if you "rethink" 3 months from now.
