Monday, Monday

For the last three Mondays, I've made the 1:35 minute trek from the big city back home to the little town. It's usually a big letdown, after having a weekend full of fun and then looking ahead to a week full of work. This morning wasn't so bad. I've still got that goofy grin and googly eyed look (the BF started calling me out on the googly eye thing last weekend), and I can't help it.

Instead of going up to the Big City on Friday after work, I had to do that ACT test giving thing Saturday morning. It was fairly painless, but quite boring. For $75 for four hours of work, I'm not complaining. I got done earlier than I thought and headed up to see my baby. He's having a rough time with some of his friends, so I didn't know exactly how he'd be feeling. Luckily things are on the mend, so hopefully it'll get better. Thom and I met up with some of his other friends from church for dinner at a bar and then went walking around a Halloween block party.

Oh before the block party, which was interesting to say the least, we went see "Running With Scissors" at a movie theater in a 'big fancy hotel'. The movie was one of those 'make you think' type flicks, which I actually enjoy since I'm not one to frequent the movies. The last two I saw were Brokeback Mountain and Memoirs of a Geisha back in January. RWS had some big names and some very clever writing and good moments, but the ending left me wanting a little more resolution. It was there...but it was all build build build, climax, over. No real falling resolutions.

After dinner, a movie, and the block party, Thom and I went to a lesbian bar and watched a really lame costume contest. We left before midnight and joked we're getting old, because we were tired and ready for bed.

Sunday we woke up and did the routine of stopping for bagels before church. The extra hour of sleep was much welcomed btw. Church once again was excellent. The sermon was on hope and help. How God gives us hope and help, etc etc. We scored some free pizza for lunch after church, thanks to something else going on that afternoon....and then....

*** TRUMPET FANFARE***

Now for our feature presentation...

We went to see Sordid Lives!!!

Thom lives in the downtown area of the Big City, so the theater was just a 10-15 minute walk. Plus the Big City was also having a parade for some red bird sports team that just won some big event or something...so traffic would have been a major pain.

Sordid Lives on stage was so magical. Our seats were perfect...6 row..center...fab-u-lous! How gay does that sound? I might as well open my mouth and let a pearl studded purse fall out. Of course there were many variations from the movie, but the add ins and everything else just really worked well. Afterwards, we snuck down with the VIP ticketholders (because a friend of a friend of a friend told us to do it) and got some pictures and autographs made.

I got my picture made with Sarah Hunley who plays Juanita, my favorite character from the production. Yeah that's Thom on the right. I also got a tshirt with one of my favorite lines from the play. Scroll down past a better picture of Juanita...it's the one that says' Shooter Wardell, shooter in the head.'

Okies...I gotta fix some lunch and get ready for work.

Later gators!
