Recipe for Success (uh Mad Queen Bess)
Since someone was curious enough to inquire about hashbrown casserole, I thought I'd share the recipe!
1 large package of frozen hash browns (the cubed or the shredded type will do..whatever you prefer)
1 cup sour cream
1 can cream of celery soup
1/2 onion chopped (optional, onion powder, etc)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp, mild, whatever you like)
3/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups crushed corn flakes
Thaw hashbrowns first...or else it'll be a big ole mess.
Mix 1 stick of butter, soup, sour cream, cheese, onion, hash browns together in a large mixing bowl.
Pour it in a 9 X 13 baking dish, smooth it out evenly.
Mix up 1/4 stick of butter with your 2 cups crushed cornflakes. Sprinkle on top of the dish. Bake 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees.
You can buy generic corn flakes (corn...NOT frosted)
Yeah so it's in a round dish, mine is in a rectangle...whatever.
You can pre-salt/pepper to taste if you like.
Enjoy!

Oh, thanks...it sounds pretty tasty! I'm going to try it out this week; I'll be sure to let you know how it comes out :o)
Love this recipe, except mine is cream of ... chicken (?) -- I forget now but I know it's not celery.
Prep is a little different -- you mix all the other ingredients together and pour it over the potatoes (which have been placed in the dish first).
But other than that, it's the same thing.
And I'm sure they taste about the same no matter which way you do them. Dee-lish!
Do you think I could make this without the sour cream, cream of celery soup, and the cheese? It sounds good, but I don't eat any of those foods...
MQB: Hope you like!
Six: Yeah, you can definitely switch out the soup...cream of mushroom, celery, chicken, whatever you like. I do mix my 'wet' ingredients first, then add the hashbrowns and stir them.
Either way, it's delicious!
