So I get a call yesterday at work...it's regarding that DC job I blogged about last week. Yours truly has a phone interview next week!!!
Of course, I'm super stoked about the fact that they at least want to interview me. Work this week is exceptionally bad, since the head boss is gone, and the sub boss wants to wear the big boy pants.
I spent the afternoon researching salaries for said positions, because I know they're public record.
After finding what I was looking for, my heart stopped.
Money isn't everything and it may not buy happiness, but it sure can mean the difference between eating and a really good diet.
Although I haven't been offered a job, and no one has talked $$$ just yet, I see that it would average about a $10K paycut, and a jump to a very expensive city. Cost of living here in SmallTown is pretty cheap. I'm not sure I could swing the move.
Yes, it would be the chance of a lifetime and a very cool job....but wow...I seriously might need to live in government housing or something. Which makes me wonder...is there special housing for federal workers?
My other fear is that this position is more of a stepping stone...I'm not sure I want to chance jumping jobs in the US government area...simply because it could be a tricky business.
Oh well...I have a week to cram and study about the job.
Good news, bad news...sunrise sunsets...swiftly go the years.
Laterz,

You seem to know your musicals well. Are you gay?
Some of the most expensive cities have jobs that pay crap. It's sad. I still say Portland.
Lewis has twice now made the reference to musicals and being gay. Maybe HE's a musical-lover, too.
